The Scene: Denis in the lift, headed for the ground floor. A woman gets on halfway down. I recognise her (I think) as one of the lab technicians from the microbiology department.
Her: "That's a nice eau-de-toilette you're wearing. What is it?"
Me (Not sure if I heard right): "Sorry?"
Her: "That's a nice eau-de-toilette you're wearing. What is it?"
Me: "Er....I'm not wearing any..."
Her (surprised): "Oh..."
The lift stops at my floor. I get out.
Me (over my shoulder, back towards her): "It must be someone else's..."
I'm no good at accepting unsolicited compliments from strangers.
I do wear 'Body Mechanics for Men' from the Body Shop as a deodorant though. Maybe it was that.
